About
This Car:
This is a 1984
Porsche Carrera Turbo-look with low miles and in excellent
condition. Less than 700 Turbo-looks (M491 option) were
made. From the factory they came with the Turbo body,
Turbo brakes and Turbo suspension. Additionally, this car
has a front strut brace, SSI exhaust with twin outlets, and WEVO
shifter. The top-end of the engine was rebuilt at 60,000
miles and the transmission was rebuilt recently. The car
has been meticulously maintained for the last decade by S-Car-Go
Racing in San Rafael, CA.
This Carrera was
a show car for a local business before the current owner
purchased it, restored the interior, installed the WEVO shifter,
had the transmission rebuilt, replaced the wheels and added the
930S steering wheel. Seats show very light wear, much of
the rest of the interior is new including the door panels.
The exterior is clean and straight, the paint is terrific.
The car drives
well with firm Turbo suspension, and plenty of power from the
Carrera engine. The WEVO shifter is easy to use with short
identifiable gear changes.
Certificate of
Authenticity from Porsche confirms this to be a Factory Turbo-look
car (see image to the right).
Background:
Porsche built the
M491 option cars to replace the Turbo that was not allowed in
the USA for several years. The car is, essentially, a
Turbo without the engine. Fewer than 700 were built with
the M491 option being a nearly $12,000 add to the original MSRP.
